Enclosure

by Enclosure

/
1.
Grey life interned. Silent death recurs. Scourge of conscious: five points, no restraint. They walk free and sleep sound. Correct, with resolve. Thoughts invade: doors unlocked, plead in vain. Lost in thought. Scourge of conscious: five points of restraint. Carceral miasma. An augur laughs when he sees another. Teeth ground into dust. Dimensionless reconstruction of hacking cough and thrashing limbs. Cruel inertia of order. Live breathing flesh. Forked tongues absolve their own, again. Breathe hatred. Seethe. Forgive none.
2.
Air forced out. Life dims. Syllables immure the caught in their embrace. Weathering time, it towers. Through winds of change it learns. Through the “blood-soaked, urine-steeped essence of its being.” Simper splits to heave the names of dispossessed. Terra nullius. Rewrite the premise. Reshape the contours of suffering. Escape the currents of unrest and make what’s passed illegible. Inscribe in place: regret, concern for containment. Abuse, exclude, refuse. Affirm, include, defuse.
3.
Horizons of despair open and fold in. Falling through decades, falling from light. “We have fed you a thousand years, you hail us still unfed. If blood be the price of your wealth…we have bought it fair.” A half-moon crashes and splits the dark. Four seconds of ruthless crediting. Unsevered, the dawn breaks and we sink. The night is a shadow cast over a shred of geologic time. The half-moon is waiting, the half-moon will fall.
